Lincoln University has partnered with Knack to provide students with free peer tutoring from current Lincoln University students who have successfully completed the same courses. Tutoring is flexible and available for one-to-one or group sessions. Students may also receive academic support through the Mathematics Learning Center and the Writing and Reading Center, located in Wright Hall. Both centers offer drop-in and scheduled appointments.
Knack is Lincoln University's peer tutoring platform that connects students with trained peer tutors who have successfully completed the same courses. Students receive academic support from fellow Lions who understand the coursework, expectations, and challenges of college learning.
Connect with Lincoln University students who have excelled in the exact same classes you are taking. Successful students seek help early. Tutoring is free to all Lincoln University students.
If you have a B+ or higher, apply to be a peer tutor with Knack and get paid for helping other students. Make extra money, build professional skills and earn experience for your resume.
Is Knack tutoring the only tutoring service available?

How long does it take to receive offers from tutors?
All qualified tutors are notified of your request. You can receive offers in a few minutes or a couple of days, depending on tutor availability.
What if I want a specific tutor?
To connect with a specific tutor, search for their name and request them directly. You can find more information on how to do this in this article. Even if you want a specific tutor, we recommend you still complete the Request for Tutor form so that other tutors will contact you too.
Are online tutoring sessions available?
Yes. You can set up online tutoring based on the tutor's availability. Also, you can meet at a location on campus for your tutoring session. You should work out details with your tutor.
How long can a tutoring session last?
Each individual tutoring session has a maximum duration of 1.5 hours. There is also a limit of one, 1.5 hour sessions between a tutor/student combination in one day. Studies have shown that shorter, repeated sessions prove more efficient than longer sessions.
What if my tutor does not show up for a session?
If a tutor does not show up, you will need to cancel the session. Reach out to the tutor to communicate what happened and try to reschedule. If you need help for the course as soon as possible, try reaching out to other tutors.
What types of quality assurance measures are in place?
Tutors and students must agree to abide by Lincoln University's code of conduct and academic standards policy as well as adhering to Knack's strict Zero Tolerance Policy for Academic Misconduct. Students who do not comply will have their access to Knack revoked. Any violations of academic standards are referred to the Lincoln University. Post-session feedback and reporting allow users to flag one another as needed. Tutors and students who receive flags will be investigated by Knack and will involve Lincoln University as appropriate.
Is Knack tutoring the only tutoring service available?

How do I apply to become a Knack Tutor?
Click on the ‘Become a tutor’ button on Knack's site, click ‘Sign up’ in the window that will pop up, select your college from the list, sign in with your school credentials, and complete five simple steps.
Can anyone become a Knack Tutor?
No. To become a tutor, you must be a current Lincoln University student and have at least a B+ in a course. Review this website to apply.
Is this a work study or work aid position?
No.

You can conduct online tutoring or meet at a safe location on campus to conduct tutoring.
How long can a tutoring session last?
Each individual tutoring session has a maximum duration of 1.5 hours. There is also a limit of one, 1.5 hour sessions between a tutor/student combination in one day. Studies have shown that shorter, repeated sessions prove more efficient than longer sessions.
How many hours per week can I tutor?
The maximum number of hours per week that you can tutor is 15.
What is the pay and when do I get paid?
The pay is $15.00 per hour. You get paid weekly via direct deposit.
Where will tutoring sessions take place?
The student and tutor will determine where the tutoring session will be held. Typically sessions are held online through the Knack virtual platform or on campus in common areas such as the library, a study lounge, or a classroom.

What is Knack?
Knack is a peer tutoring platform that helps students connect with qualified peer tutors who have successfully completed the courses or content areas they support. Students can search for tutoring, choose an available peer tutor, and schedule a session.
Faculty do not need to manage tutoring appointments. Your support is needed to help students know that Knack is available, encourage them to seek support early, and invite strong students to consider becoming peer tutors.
