Philosophy: The Code of Student Conduct provides students with clear notice of behaviors that are inconsistent with the values, expectations, and standards of Lincoln University. The Code is intended to support a respectful, accountable, and inclusive campus community while recognizing that student conduct is an important part of the educational experience.
The primary purpose of the student conduct process is to promote integrity, accountability, restorative education, and personal growth. When students are found responsible for violations of University policies, the conduct process is designed to provide opportunities for reflection, learning, restoration, and making informed, value-aligned decisions. Through this process, the University seeks to transform conflict and misconduct into meaningful learning experiences that contribute to students' development as ethical leaders within and beyond the Lincoln University community.
The Code is not intended to be written with the specificity of a criminal statute. Rather, it establishes standards and expectations that help maintain a campus environment where students can learn, grow, and pursue their educational goals with dignity and respect.
The University is committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all members of the campus community. Nothing in the Code is intended to restrict the lawful expression of ideas, viewpoints, or beliefs or to infringe upon an individual's constitutional rights, including the right to free speech.
