Welcome New Faculty

Lincoln University’s 2023-2024 new faculty hires join an already esteemed, dedicated and diverse group of scholars who effectively demonstrate their commitment to Lincoln’s mission and unique legacy. With their extensive training, diligent preparation, and successful navigation of the search committee and hiring processes, our new faculty are poised to begin making a difference. Representing the major disciplines of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, they will bring a wealth of wide-ranging knowledge and expertise to our institution.

We eagerly anticipate the important impact they will have on our student’s lives, research endeavors, and their service to the institution and wider community. We welcome the enthusiasm and knowledge that they bring and look forward to their invaluable input and aligning with our commitment to Learn. Liberate. Lead.

A Welcome Message from the Provost of Academic Affairs

Welcome to Lincoln University (LU)! You have just become part of a university with tremendous positive momentum and a future filled with unlimited possibilities for all. Under the leadership of President Brenda A. Allen, LU will chart a new course forward and build upon the amazing successes of our faculty, staff, and students over the past decade. As Provost for Academic Affairs, learning about your academic credentials, accomplishments, and interests has been inspiring. I look forward to the opportunity to get to know each of you better over the next several months. The team in the Office of Faculty Affairs and I stand ready to assist you in any way we can.Dr.-Joseph.png

While these challenging times for higher education all over the world, at LU our applications for admission, enrollment, student academic profile, student and faculty diversity, and student experiential learning and honors eligibility are at an all-time high. Furthermore, measures of student success are on the upswing, our research and scholarly enterprises are expanding, and our impact on the economic development of the state and region is substantial. Under the leadership of President Allen, we will be advancing a new University Strategic Plan this year that will build on these strengths into the future.

Universities are defined by the equality and commitment of their faculty, and great universities are defined by having engaged teachers and scholars who bring new energy, ideas, perspectives, and partnerships to our students, to each other, and to the university. While you may be new to LU, please know his is now your university and your voice matters. I strongly urge you to become involved in your department, and/or University committees and with the Faculty Council, where your ideas and experiences are needed and welcomed.

We are invested in your success and look forward to your engagement in the academic learning and scholarly environment at LU. We offer a great many support systems to assist you. Please do not hesitate to ask for help and advice. Your success contributes directly to ensuring a vibrant, dynamic, and highly relevant Lincoln University for all of us.

Today, you are among the newest members of the LU community – a community joined together by a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, and learning from and supporting one another. We are a community where bias and hatred are not tolerated.

I wish you all the best as you make a smooth transition to LU – thank you for joining us and contributing to the vitality of the LU community.
