Assessment of Student Affairs

Student learning occurs both inside and outside the classroom and the importance of measuring the effects of both cognitive and affective development cannot be overstated

As such, it is essential to comprehensively assess the various units and programs within the Division of Student Affairs. At Lincoln, all the offices and units under the Division of Student Affairs undergo comprehensive assessment of their goals and objectives. This is to demonstrate the positive contribution that Student Affairs programs and services have on overall institutional effectiveness and a positive student experience.

Student Affairs Assessment Committee

The Support Unit Assessment Committee consists of student affairs practitioners who are committed to making a positive contribution to the campus assessment culture and program.  The Committee exits to support all the units and offices within the division of Student Affairs in conducting effective and meaningful assessment. Functions of the Committee include: 

  • Establishing, reviewing and updating policies and guidelines related to Student Affairs assessment
  • Researching best practices in order to communicate them and provide training to student affairs staff
  • Providing constructive feedback on support unit assessment plans
  • Facilitating a connection to the Academic Affairs division for collaboration in assessing the University’s Institutional learning outcomes
  • Communicating Student Affairs Assessment results to the campus community
  • Provide support to student affairs units during the comprehensive review process
  • Provide recommendations for enhancing and improving the Student Affairs assessment process

The Support Unit Assessment Committee is comprised of representatives from selected Student Affairs Units across the campus as well as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.  Standing members include the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Planning. The Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs serves as an ex-officio member.
