Responsible Reporters

The main responsibility of mandatory reporters is to report any Title IX violations to the University via the Title IX Coordinator as soon as possible. These individuals are required to report incidents personally observe as well as incidents reported to them.

Additionally, all mandatory reporters are required to report instances of suspected child abuse in accordance with the Pennsylvania State law.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, mandatory reporters assist the University in complying with legal requirements and help the University maintain its commitment to fostering a secure, equitable and inclusive community.

The following groups or individuals are considered mandatory reporters:

  • Anyone who has the authority to take action to redress the harassment; or
  • Anyone a student could reasonably believe has the authority or responsibility.

Examples: Supervisors, Area Coordinators, Community Advisors, Orientation Leaders, Organization and Academic Advisors, Public Safety, Student Success staff, HR staff, Athletics Staff, Faulty, and Campus Security Authority Members.

Faculty and staff who are statutorily prohibited from reporting such information are exempt from these requirements, including licensed mental and medical health-care professionals (i.e. Licensed Counselors or Medical Doctor).
