BOND-HILL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Horace Mann Bond - Leslie Pinckney Hill Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial assistance to highly-qualified Pennsylvania students from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania and Cheyney University who pursue approved graduate or professional programs at Pennsylvania State University, the University of Pittsburgh, Temple University, or one of the universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).

The scholarship is named in honor of two distinguished past presidents of Lincoln University and Cheyney University, Horace Mann Bond and Leslie Pinckney Hill, respectively.

Based upon funding by the General Assembly, the Bond-Hill scholarship program provides full tuition, fees, and textbooks to recent bachelor’s degree graduates from Lincoln University and Cheyney University who meet program eligibility requirements and are accepted into approved programs at one of the partner graduate universities.

Priority funding is awarded to students enrolling in TIER I programs.  Based upon available funding, additional scholarships may be awarded to students admitted to TIER II (2nd priority) and TIER III (3rd priority) programs.  Learn about the TIERS.

Eligible students must:

  • Be a graduate of Lincoln University (bachelor’s degree)
  • Be accepted to one of the partner graduate universities
  • Apply for this scholarship within five years of graduating from Lincoln University
  • Be recommended by the Upperclassmen Dean of Lincoln University (this letter will be added after the application is submitted)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Be a resident of the state Pennsylvania
  • Demonstrate high academic performance and maintain satisfactory progress

Applications are accepted on a continual basis throughout the year.  Completed applications should be emailed to Mrs. Sandy Sweet at ssweet@lincoln.edu.

Please submit the following with your application for consideration:

  • Unofficial transcript
  • Resume
  • Cover letter
  • One or two letters of recommendation (optional)
  • Acceptance letter from graduate/professional program
  • GRE, LSAT, or MCAT scores (only if the program required them to be taken)

Awards

The number of scholarships awarded and renewed each year is based upon the availability of funds from the General Assembly. Awards vary by individual, based on the student’s graduate program and institution.

Students may receive the scholarship for a maximum of four academic years (eight full-time semesters) as long as they maintain satisfactory academic status as defined by the graduate institution and make academic progress toward the professional degree.

The Horace Mann Bond-Leslie Pinckney Hill Scholarship Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary and Higher Education.
