Act 101

Act 101 Achievement Program

The ACT 101 Achievement Program is an equal opportunity, Pennsylvania state funded program designed to create and support academic excellence for students in higher education who have high potential but face economic and academic challenges to achieve success in higher education. ACT 101 is an academic and personal support services program that will assist students in developing academic skills, leadership potential and cultivating study habits to achieve success in higher education.

Services Offered

Academic Advising

  • Plan, review, and monitor academic progress 

Academic Improvement Plan

  • Empower students to regain good academic standing

Peer TutorinG

  • Connect students with tutors as needed

Learning Specialist or Academic Coach

  • Connect students with learning specialists and academic coaches to develop academic skills and study strategies

Workshops

  • Offer workshops that provide tips on ways to succeed in class

Career Development

  • Connect students with Career Services and the Office of Internship Services 

Counseling Services

  • Oversee and provide guidance on adjustment, financial matters, and social concerns, providing referrals as needed.

Program Structure: Tiered Membership

1  

Tier 1: first-year and transfer

Tier 1 focuses on adjusting to college, developing academic and social skills, building successful study habits, and connecting you with a supportive community of resources. This tier provides intensive support as you transition to college.

 

 

2  

Tier 2: Building Independence

Tier 2 is recommended for students with a GPA of 1.1 - 2.9 who are familiar with the Lincoln University campus and who need moderate skill development. This tier focuses on continuing to build social skills, fostering independence, and developing professionalism as you progress in your academic journey.

3  

Tier 3: Network Building

Tier 3 is recommended for students with a GPA of 2.1 - 2.79 who require minimal academic support. This tier continues to build social skills and establish networks within Lincoln University to prepare you for graduation.

Tier 4: Professional Skills Building

Tier 4 is recommended for students with a GPA of 2.8 and above who need minimal academic support and who have and internship or post-graduation employment plans. This tier targets professional skill development for life after graduation.

 

Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society

Chi Alpha Epsilon was formed to recognize the academic achievements of college students in access and scholar programs. Its purposes are to promote continued high academic standards, to foster increased communication among its members, and to honor academic excellence achieved by those students. 
Members pledge to continue to excel academically, promote academic excellence in others, and to help those who genuinely aspire to the same goals. Membership is offered through Lincoln's Theta Chapter to eligible students and alumni. 
Chi Alpha Epsilon eligibility requirements:
  • Hold a 3.0 cumulative GPA for two consecutive full-time semesters or 4 consecutive part-time semesters 
  • AND are participants of a higher education opportunity type programs - ex. ACT 101 ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
