Dr. Denise F. Brown is an Associate Professor of Human Services dedicated to integrating mental health, advocacy, and the arts to foster inclusive and transformative learning environments. Her work centers the advancement of educational equity through initiatives that support students with accommodations, securing resources, and promoting mental health awareness and access:

Professor André P. Llewellyn

Professor André P. Llewellyn has over a decade of experience in the human services field, spanning education, family support, and developmental disability services. His career has centered on building inclusive, strengths-based programs that empower individuals and families while strengthening community connections.  He is recognized for combining innovative, data-driven strategies with a human-centered approach that emphasizes equity, advocacy, and relationship-building. In the classroom, Professor Llewellyn draws on his professional background to prepare students to engage thoughtfully with the diverse realities of human services, emphasizing leadership, collaboration, and culturally responsive care:

Melina McConatha

Melina McConatha, PhD

Dr. Melina McConatha is an educator, community weaver, and participation action researcher.  Her scholarship explores the interconnected health and wellbeing of plants, animals, and people across the lifespan.  Dr McConatha’s current work centers a liberation praxis in the study of multispecies mutual aid and cannabis community care:

Tonya Gibbs

Mrs. Tonya L. Gibbs

Mrs. Tonya L. Gibbs is the department assistant in Human Services. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Studies in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. Mrs. Gibbs is an essential resource to faculty, staff, and students here on our campus.  She is warm and welcoming.  You can find her supporting students through problem solving and listening.   Mrs. Gibbs is a huge support for our HUS students as they navigate through our program all the way to graduation. She is dedicated to the wellbeing of all who come through the second-floor doors of suite 283 in Dickey Hall.  Most people leave her office with a snack, sweet treat, and a smile on their face.
