The University is working to preserve the family histories of descendants of Hinsonville or Lincoln University Village, an early African American settlement of free landowners and farmers, which formerly encompassed the campus and surrounding area, thanks to a $12,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant.
Guest speaker and author Corinna Fales, the author of Different: Our University Longing for Community, will speak on campus on Thursday, January 25 at 11 a.m. in the Mary Dod Brown Memorial Chapel. A heritage book discussion will also take place at 6 p.m. on January 25 in the Langston Hughes Memorial Library. Learn more.
