Bio:
Tiffany R. Pennamon is an Assistant Professor of African American Literature at Lincoln University. Her research and teaching interests include 20th & 21st century Black women and queer writers' Womanist worldmaking, the role of art in Black liberation movements, and representations of mothering and disability in Black literature and visual media. By analyzing the creative offerings, interviews, and beingness of Black artists such as Alice Walker, Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, Elizabeth Catlett, and others, Dr. Pennamon's current book project critically examines the embodied spiritual essence of Black art and how it transcends the constraints and function of western newsmaking. Her writing and editorial work have also appeared in Callaloo, Black Perspectives, Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, World Wildlife Magazine, and The Conversation, among other publications. She is a Mellon Mays fellow and proud HBCU graduate. She joined the faculty in 2025.
