Dr. Chieke E. Ihejirika

Chair and Professor, Political Science Department

Dr. Ihejirika is recently awarded the first Freedom and Peace Award, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Professor of political Science. He recently co-authored two books namely: Pantheon of Political Philosophers (2010) and Freedom and Prosperity in the 21st Century (2011); and several scholarly articles and book chapters.

He was research assistant at the University of Waterloo for two years; Teaching Fellow at Temple University for five years, an adjunct professor at Drexel University for six years. He has been at Lincoln since 2004.

He participated in the future faculty program of Brown University sponsored by Ford Foundation as a graduate student.

He was trained in African, European and North American Universities, thus he holds two bachelor’s degrees, and two master’s degrees and a doctorate, namely:

He is a columnist with a Philadelphia based community magazine, FunTimes. He is a respected community leader in charge of the Igbo language school of the Igbo Catholic Community in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He is the founding Chairman of Ngor-Okpala Congress in America – A Diasporan Organization comprising over three thousand indigenes of Ngor-Okpala Local Government in the United States. He is currently the chairman of the building committee mandated to build a multi-million naira conference center for NOCIA at the LGA headquarters at Umuneke Ngor-Okpala, in Owerri Imo State of Nigeria.
