Types of Withdrawals & Your Path to Re-Enrollment

Whether you took time off for personal reasons or faced challenges along the way, returning to Lincoln requires completing a Re-Enrollment Application. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Voluntary Withdrawal – Withdrawing for personal, medical, financial, or academic reasons.
  • Involuntary Withdrawal – Withdrawing due to academic dismissal, conduct violations, or administrative actions.
  • Stop-Out – Leaving without officially withdrawing and now looking to return.

* Final Clearance means all outstanding balances must be paid in full, course registration must be confirmed, and—for main campus students—housing arrangements or commuter status must be finalized.

After submitting your re-enrollment application through Qualtrics, your eligibility will be reviewed based on the following criteria. You can expect a decision within 10 business days.

  • Academic Eligibility: You must meet the minimum GPA requirements.
    • If you were academically dismissed, you’ll need to submit an Appeal of Dismissal. The AAFA Committee will review your appeal and decide if you can return. You’ll be notified of their decision by email from the Office of the Registrar.

  • Financial Eligibility: Your balance must be $0—no prior past balances.
    • If you owe money to the university, you’ll need to clear that balance before returning.

  • Judicial Eligibility: You must be in good standing with student conduct.
    • If you’ve had any judicial sanctions, you’ll need to complete them (including any required community service hours) before you can return.
