Economics (Minor)

Mission Statement: 

Designed to complement students primary areas of study, the Economics Minor offers a comprehensive exploration of economic theory and its practical applications to provide research and analytical opportunities that develop competitive candidates for postgraduate programs.

Through a diverse range of courses, students gain insights into key economic principles and learn how to apply them in real-world business scenarios. Key areas of focus include:

  • Microeconomic Analysis: Understanding the behavior of consumers, firms, and markets
  • Macroeconomic Theory: Analyzing economic aggregates such as national income, inflation, and unemployment
  • Economic Policy: Examining the role of government intervention in shaping economic outcomes
  • International Economics: Exploring the complexities of global trade, exchange rates, and economic development
  • Business Economics: Applying economic principles to strategic decision-making within organizations

Students who complete the program will be able to:

  • Analyze and communicate economic concepts in written, spoken, and visual formats.
  • Analyze economic data using qualitative and quantitative methodologies to illustrate their impact on enterprises and nations domestic and abroad.
  • Examine personal involvement with contemporary economic issues to develop transformational proposals that advance economic policy.
  • Utilize innovative thought leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of economic public policy and develop new proposals as appropriate.
