Virginia J. Smith, M.S.W., Ph.D.

Professor, School of Adult & Continuing Education - Graduate Programs

Dr. Virginia Smith is a Professor in the Masters of Human Services Program at Lincoln University, where she teaches social science research, planning, and program evaluation. Dr. Smith has a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Her area of concentration during her doctoral studies was social analysis and planning, with a focus on gerontology and intergenerational issues. Dr. Smith earned her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her Bachelor’s degree from Temple University. She has been a faculty member at Lincoln University since 1991, and teaches in the graduate and undergraduate programs in human services at SACE. Dr. Smith serves on boards of several non-profit organizations in the Philadelphia area. She is also a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, where she works with the education and health sub-committees. She is an active member of the Alliance of Black Social Workers in Philadelphia, a Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers. She is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers of the National Association of Social Workers, and a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Pennsylvania.
