Commencement Speaker and Honorary Degrees

Renowned civil rights and personal injury attorney Benjamin Crump will speak at the 161st Commencement. Selected for this honor by the faculty and approved by the Board of Trustees, Crump will also receive an honorary Doctor of Laws. Three recipients will receive honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees: Nelson Henry Jr. (posthumously), Dr. Leonard Bethel, and Emery Wimbish.

Cap and Gown

It is time to order your academic regalia—cap and gown—for Commencement. We are working directly with an external vendor, Herff Jones, who will collect your personal information via the webform below and then mail your regalia to your home. Please have your height, weight, and mailing address ready, then navigate to the order link below. Be sure to submit the form by June 15! This is for main campus students only. If you are a SACE student be sure your information is accurate with SACE Student Services. 

  • Who is Eligible: All August 2019, December 2019, and May 2020 graduates who have not already participated in a prior ceremony. 
  • Order Link: http://colleges.herffjones.com/college/lincolnpa/
  • Order Deadline: June 15, 2020.
  • Cost: Free, as it is already included in your graduation fee. If you miss the deadline to order, Herff Jones will charge a fee.
  • When: You should receive your cap and gown by the first week of July.

Lastly, when the date for the postponed Commencement ceremony is announced, this is the regalia that is required to be worn to participate. Please take care not to lose it, as there will be a fee for replacement regalia.

May 16: HBCU National Commencement

Lincoln University invited 2020 graduates to participate in the National HBCU Commencement Celebration on Saturday, May 16. The virtual event was streamed live internationally on ESSENCE Studios.

The celebration featured celebrity hosts, motivational speakers, musical performances, and the profiles of HBCU valedictorians and other graduates.

Senior Sunday Virtual Service

Celebrating LU's Undergraduate Seniors and LU School of Adult & Continuing Education (SACE) Graduates

  + Baccalaureate/Commencement Rehearsal

10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

  • The Bursar and Registrar's offices will be open to finalize any outstanding items. You will be able to pick up your cap and gown during that period.

12:00 p.m. until 2:50 p.m.

  • Enjoy the Bull Roast (LLC Breezeway)

3:00 p.m.

  • "Passing of the Torch" ceremonial march from the top of the "U" to the ICC building for the Baccalaureate Ceremony and Commencement Rehearsal. Please wear your cap and gown and carry your hood. It is very important that you don't forget your hood because you will need it for the Commencement Rehearsal.

  • Graduation Clearance Check-in (You must check in to receive a clearance participation card; without proof of clearance, you cannot participate in Commencement.)
