Current students, faculty, and staff of Lincoln University are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. We accept poetry, fiction, essays, art, and photography. All submissions can be sent to simbaa@lincoln.edu.
The submission period runs from January 15 to March 15. Work received after the submission period will be considered for the next volume of Simbaa.
Expect a reply to your submission within four weeks; however, depending on the volume of submissions the editors receive, response times may be longer. Those whose work has been accepted will receive two contributors’ copies of the magazine.
Poetry
- Up to three poems per submission
- No length requirement
- Include contact information at the top of the first page (name, e-mail address, phone #)
- Send as a Microsoft Word attachment
Fiction and Essays
- One story or essay per submission
- Max length: 4,000 words
- Double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 pt. font
- Include contact information at the top of the first page (name, e-mail address, phone #)
- Academic or scholarly essays should follow MLA citation guidelines
- Send as a Microsoft Word attachment
Photography and Visual Art
- Up to five images per submission
- Jpeg or pdf format (jpeg preferred)
- 300 dpi or higher
- Include contact information in the body of the e-mail (name, e-mail address, phone)
