Message from The Women's Center~
"And
you are ????…………"
Take a moment to be still and remember who you are and where
you are. Now is the time for self-awareness, self-exploration
and self-definition. This is the continuum during these formative
years here at Lincoln University.
- One
must know who they are. No, not just your name and when
and where you were born! Get to know your likes and dislikes,
strengths and weaknesses, what you will tolerate and your
own personal boundaries. How far can you be pushed before
going over the edge? Do you know when enough is enough
and are you strong enough to say so?
- Now
that you know who you are, venture forth to explore and
investigate new growth opportunities. College is the perfect
place to start. There is so much diversity on campus.
Engage in conversation with someone who espouses a different
point of view, i.e., religion, politics, sexuality. You
may have more in common than you think. Read a book, listen
to music, or attend a cultural event. Do something to
remove you from your comfort zone. There maybe something
there to add to your evolving definition of self.
- Once
you have taken a personal inventory and incorporated new
life experiences, enjoy and revel in the new person you
have become. You have transformed into a person who owns
a true sense of self.
We are interested in guiding students, especially female students
of color, in this transformation. Come join us in Hansberry
Hall to begin the journey.
