Our Herstory
Founded
by the Lincoln Network Society (LNS) and the Office of the President, The Women's Center
at Lincoln University opened its doors on Thursday, January
23, 2003. The LNS is an affiliate of the National Auxiliary
of Lincoln University and an organization dedicated to supporting
the mission of Lincoln University as a Historically Black
University (HBU) serving the needs of students in a technological
and global society. The Women's Center, which began as a vision
and project of the LNS, assists students in making healthy
and positive lifestyle choices in six dimensions of human
development and wellness: spiritual, physical, intellectual,
cultural, emotional and social. We encourage students to find
their focal point and implore them to seek understanding of
themselves and their lives.
Our Goals
To
provide a safe space for women to find support;
To
provide programming and resource materials related to health
and wellness;
To develop peer educators;
To
provide a campus and community referral service;
And
to continue to empower women.
These
goals are met through self-improvement workshops, peer education
programming and individual, as well as group counseling services,
available via The Women's Center.
