Faculty Workshop Update: Making Rubrics and Making Them Work

Our last writing workshop, “Making Rubrics and Making them Work”, was a hands-on experience for faculty. If you are interested in creating rubrics for class assignments, or to shore up your Middle States documents, check out our PowerPoint presentation on Rubrics.  You should also look at some of these sample rubrics from UW-Stout and ChalkandWire©. Finally, when you are ready to build your own rubrics, go to Rubistar.com, which has an excellent graphic user interface for building rubrics and an extensive database of rubrics you can tailor for your own assignments. We will be conducting follow-up Rubric Building Workshops this Spring. Please contact Marilyn Frantz at mfrantz@lincoln.edu or ext.7622 to schedule a workshop for your department or school.

Writing Intensive Course Review

In Spring 2008, we will begin the process of reviewing and certifying all Writing Intensive Courses. Department Chairs and Writing Liaisons will receive information packets through campus mail.  For more information, go to the WAC/WID Website and click on the tab marked “WI Courses”. You will be able to see all the WI Courses in your department by selecting one of the drop-down menus to your left.  You will also be able to download import documents for certifying your selected course as Writing Intensive.

The WAC/WID Website

We are excited to announce that on Jan 31st, we will officially launch our website! This site will be a great source for up-to-date information about our program.  We will also have tons of writing support for faculty and students!

Our goal is to make the WAC/WID website a portal for all web-based, writing-related materials used on campus.  To access the site, go to http://www.lincoln.edu/wac.
