PERFORMING ENSEMBLES

The following music organizations are open to all Lincoln University
students, regardless of major area of study. Auditions
for select ensembles are held during the first days of class each semester.
Scholarships are available for active participation in several of these musical
organizations.
Marching Band (click for more information
on Bands)
The Orange Crush, Lincoln's Marching Band, has been recently revived,
along with the football program at LU. The band organization, in existence
since fall 2006, has already developed a strong presence at campus events;
Homecoming and sports functions. Our growing program, through the leadership
of Director H. Wade Johnson, has already built a strong musical program,
and won several awards. The band organization includes a drill team and dancers;
who perform at many events along with the Band.

Jazz Ensemble
The Lincoln University Jazz Ensemble is a select group of students
under the direction of . H. Wade Johnson. Membership is
open by audition.

Concert Choir
Under the direction of interim director Mr. Albert Lee,
the Lincoln University Concert Choir is a select ensemble of singers. The
majority of the singers in the ensemble are undergraduate music majors, membership
is open to all students at the university through an audition process. The
Concert Choir rehearses four times a week on vocal music with an emphasis
on African American tradition. The Lincoln University Concert Choir gives
several concerts each semester, and has been invited to perform at choral
conventions, the choir has achieved a reputation of
excellence on the regional, state, and national level.

Opera Workshop
Instituted over the last several years, the Opera Workshop has developed
a level of professional performances, including recent performances of The
Marriage of Figaro and
Suor Angelica. The Workshop is under the direction of Professor
Rita McKinley Pride, who draws on her long experience as a professional opera
singer and vocal teacher.

String Ensemble
The String Ensemble is open by audition to students who are instrumental/string
majors and minors, and those who are majors in other areas. Dr. Jong-Goo
Kim directs the String Ensemble.

Theater Workshop
Our Theater Workshop is an exciting beginning to our revived Theater Program.
Students may register for Theater workshop as a course.
