Director
General Duties: To supervise and direct all activities within the residential
halls and provide guidance and direction to all staff involved with the residence
component. Specific
Responsibilities: 1. Report and maintain close working relationship with
Project Director and Assistant Director. 2.
Provide direct supervision for all tutor/counselors within the residential halls
and detail assignments to tutor/counselors. 3.
Develop a residential life educational component designed around current events,
good grooming habits, health and dress, promoting reading for enjoyment and personal
counseling. 4.
Assist in handing and disciplinary actions that arise inside or outside the residential
halls and enforce program rule and regulations. 5.
Account for general physical condition of dormitory during Summer Component and
report immediately and damage to the facility.
6. Function as a liaison between teachers and students in monitoring academic
performance and activities in and outside residential halls. 7.
Chaperone sponsored activities on and off campus as well as assigning necessary
staff to assist. 8.
Maintain adequate records and files concerning any disciplinary actions, security
concerns, accidents, health related problems, or any other pertinent communications
regarding student participation. 9.
Cooperate with the University staff to maintain positive rapport and adequate
supervision of program activities. 10.
Provide weekly and final evaluation of residential program. Initiate evaluation
of tutorial staff and students. 11.
Must be available on at twenty-four hour basis for all activities in the residential
halls. Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree minimum preferred. 2.
Minimum of three years' teaching or counseling experience, preferably in a residential
setting. Experience in Student Personal Services or Housing in desired. 3.
Demonstrated ability to understand and provide direction and supervision to students
of various background. Must possess a sensitivity to needs, attitudes and behavioral
patterns of adolescents. |
