PROGRAM MISSION: The mission of the Disciplinary Sanction Community Service (D.S.C.S.)
program is to promote University community
standards of behavior and student learning through discipline that is creative
and thought-provoking while maintaining the
integrity of the judicial process.
The D.S.C.S.
program accomplishes its mission by providing programs and services that:
- foster personal learning, growth and development and aid in the development of mature and ethical
decision-making.
- hold students accountable for
their sanctions and the standards of expectations established by the Student
Code of Conduct.
- help
students learn appropriate behaviors and the consequences for unacceptable
and/or inappropriate behaviors through the use of personal reflection and
critical thinking skills.
- promote social
responsibility through participation in service/volunteer activities.

The Disciplinary Sanction Community Service Program (D.S.C.S.) is an
extension of the Student Code of Conduct Judicial Board that assigns and
monitors community service sanctions. Community Service provides an opportunity
for the student to contribute positively to their community. Depending upon the
violation, the following community service may be assigned:
- Marijuana 101 or Alcohol 101 on-line
course. Student is required to pay $30
for course.
- Completion of Pre-reflection and
Post-reflection supplements
- Mandatory attendance at bi-monthly
reflection meetings
- Mandatory attendance at self-improvement
workshops (improving self esteem, drugs & alcohol, anger management, and
conflict resolution)
- Mandatory participation in community service
opportunities on-campus (campus clean-ups, dining hall clean-ups, after party
clean-ups, etc.)
- Mandatory participation in off-campus
community service opportunities
- Assignment to serve and work in various
on-campus departments
- Donations to Ronald McDonald House Wish List
