ABOUT THE LION CARD
The Lion Card is the official University ID card for students, faculty and staff.  It identifies the cardholder by name, photo and status.  The Lion Card must be carried at all times while on University property and must be surrendered to any University official upon request or when the relationship for which the card was issued is no longer in effect.

The Lion Card is the property of Lincoln University and is governed by the terms and conditions set forth by the University.  The Lion Card is not transferable and is not permitted to be used by anyone other than the issued cardholder.

In addition to serving as the official University ID card, the Lion Card can be used by students to access the following services on campus.

Residential Hall Access
Laundry Machines
Meal Plans
Bookstore Purchases
Time Clock Access
Library Services
Lion Cash

OBTAINING A LION CARD
Lion Cards are issued by the Lion Card Office located in the Office of Student Support Services, Lincoln Hall, First Floor.

There is no charge for an initial Lion Card for students, faculty and staff.  There is, however, a $10 replacement fee to re-issue a card that has been lost, stolen, or damaged.  The replacement fee may be paid in cash or charged to your Lion Ca$h account.

Students:  Once students are registered for classes for the current academic term, they can visit the Lion Card Office to have a photo taken and their first Lion Card issued.  A valid photo identification card (driver’s license, state I.D., school I.D., passport, etc.) must be presented in order to receive your first Lion Card.

Faculty and Staff:  Once all new hire paperwork has been processed by the Human Resources Department you will be provided with a Lion Card Authorization Form.  Visit the Lion Card Office to have a photo taken and your Lion Card issued.  The Lion Card Authorization Form and a valid photo identification card (driver’s license, state I.D., passport, etc.) must be presented in order to receive a Lion Card.   Faculty and staff who take classes while employed by Lincoln University will receive their Lion Card with their primary status with the University designated on the card and not “Student.”
Important to Remember:   No person may be in possession of more than one Lion Card.

Contractor and/or Vendor:  Contractors or vendors hired by the University must have a Lion Card Authorization form completed by the appropriate department director.  They must report to the Captain of Public Safety for authorization of an I.D. number before proceeding to the Lion Card Office to have a photo taken and Lion Card issued.  A valid photo identification card (driver’s license, state I.D., or passport) must be presented along with the Lion Card Authorization Form.

REPORTING LOST OR STOLEN CARDS
Lost or stolen Lion Cards must be reported immediately to the Lion Card Office or Public Safety and Security.  Reports of lost or stolen cards must be made to the Lion Card Office during normal business hours or to Public Safety and Security at all other times.  Either of these offices has the ability to immediately deactivate an I.D. card.

DEACTIVATING LION CARD ACCOUNTS
Once your Lion Card has been reported lost or stolen, your accounts will be frozen and deactivated until your card is found or replaced.  This will protect all Lion Ca$h funds as well as other privileges assigned to your card.  Additionally, this prevents fraudulent activity of your accounts in the event your Lion Card is found by someone other than yourself.

If your lost or stolen card is found prior to having a replacement card printed, you must physically bring the card to the Lion Card Office for reactivation.

REPLACING LOST, STOLEN OR DAMAGED CARDS
Lost, stolen or damaged cards may be replaced at the Lion Card Office during normal business hours.  The fee for faculty, staff and/or students to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged card is $10.00.  The replacement fee may be paid in cash or charged to your Lion Ca$h account.  If a replacement card has been printed and issued, the initial card will be invalid, even if it is found.

IMPROPER USE OF THE LION CARD
The cardholder shall be subject to disciplinary and/or criminal action for:

  • Any use of or attempted use of the Lion Card for purposes other than that intended.
  • Any use of or attempted use of the Lion Card by any individual other than the cardholder.
  • Permitting your Lion Card to be used by another individual.
  • Failure to fully and truthfully report the circumstances pertaining to a lost, stolen or damaged Lion Card.
  • Failure to appear and truthfully and fully testify at any disciplinary or criminal proceedings which may result from the report of a lost or stolen Lion Card.

SAFETY AND SECURITY OF YOUR LION CARD

LION CARD FEATURES

  • Meal Plan/Flex Dollars Account

At the beginning of each academic year, every undergraduate student who resides on campus purchases a meal plan, including a preset number of meals and flex dollars.  This information is stored on the Lion Card, which can be used at the Lincoln Marketplace (Student Dining Hall); Lincoln’s Row (the Grill); and Sandella’s.  Please note that changes to your meal plan selection must be made in the Office of Residence Life within two weeks of the official check-in date.  The meal plan expires at the end of the academic year.

Meal plans offered at Lincoln University are as follows:
Meal Plan A ~ 19 meals per week (3 meals per day) with $100 flex dollars each semester.
Meal Plan B ~ 14 meals per week (2 meals per day) with $75 flex dollars each semester.
Meal Plan C ~   5 meals per week (1 meal per day) with $75 flex dollars each semester.

Students who reside on campus must choose either Meal Plan A or Meal Plan B.  Commuter students may purchase any meal plan above.

  • Laundry Account

At the beginning of each semester, all residential students receive a laundry allowance in the amount of $65.00 which is deposited directly to your laundry account on your Lion Card.  Remaining funds on the laundry account at the end of the semester or academic year are not carried forward.  The laundry facilities are located in the following residence halls: Cresson, Ashmun, Hansberry, Living Learning Center (North & South), Lucy Laney, McCrary, Frederick Douglas, and Apartment Style Living (ASL).

The laundry facilities are set up with card readers only; there are no coin machines.  Your Lion Card activates the washers and dryers using funds from your laundry account.  One wash and dry cycle cost $1.00 each.  When doing laundry, swipe your card only once and select the washer or dryer number.  Wait for the transaction to process then activate the washer or dryer by selecting the cycle.  Do not swipe a second time.

Students may add funds to their laundry account by visiting the Cashier’s Office located in the lower level of Vail Hall during normal business hours (9:00am-3:00pm) or the Office of Student Support Services.

  • Residential Hall Access

Most residence halls on campus are equipped with an electronic access reader.  Students who reside on campus are granted access to their residential building via their Lion Card and they may gain access 24 hours a day.  Students may be asked to present their Lion Card to the desk representative once inside the lobby.

  • Time Clock Access

Staff and student employees must use their Lion Card to clock in and out for work.

  • Lion Ca$h Account

Lion Ca$h is a declining balance or stored value account which you can deposit funds to use at various locations on campus.  The Lion Ca$h account is activated upon your initial deposit and activation of the account signifies your agreement with the terms and conditions of the Lion Card.  Deposits may be made by cash, money order, cashier’s check or credit card in the Cashier’s Office during normal business hours.

Faculty, staff and students may use Lion Ca$h to purchase meals from the Faculty/Staff Dining Hall, Lincoln’s Row, Sedano’s, and the Bookstore.  For more information regarding the Lion Ca$h account please refer to the Lion Card Terms and Conditions and Card Holder Agreement.

  • Bookstore Funds Account

The Bookstore Funds Account is a declining balance or stored value account for students only.  Deposits made to the Bookstore Funds Account can only be used at Follett’s Bookstore.  This feature allows students and/or their parents to deposit discretionary funds to their son or daughter’s account to be used in the Bookstore only for books and/or school supplies.

  • Library Services

Students must swipe their Lion Card through the door access reader to enter the Langston Hughes Memorial Library located on the main campus.  You must also present your Lion Card to utilize the services of the Library.
