Early Monitoring Alert Program  


       

PROGRAM MISSION:        The mission of the Early Monitoring Alert Program (EMAP) supports the overall arching goals and mission of the University by providing academic enrichment and support to students who are in jeopardy of academic failure and/or academic suspension due to their cumulative grade point average and/or completion rate.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:    As per the Satisfactory Academic Progress policies and procedures of the University, students are required to maintain a cumulative g.p.a. of a 2.0 or above. While there are numerous factors that contribute to a student’s performance academically, such as family issues, school climate, medical issues, financial concerns, or difficulty balancing social and academic responsibilities, EMAP has been designed to promote academic success by assisting students with learning the necessary knowledge, skills and strategies that will enable them to have a successful college experience and to persist through graduation.

       
PROGRAM GOALS:

  • Provide support services to assist students with learning the skills and strategies necessary to become independent and active learners to improve academic performance and achieve academic success.
  • Support the academic standards and requirement of the University.
  • Offer resources to enhance overall educational experience.
  • Provide rewarding services and support that foster intellectual and social growth.

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Peer tutoring and group study sessions available through EMAP Study Hall
  • Academic Enrichment Workshops
  • Self-Assessment Evaluation Tools
  • Mid-term and Finals Refreshment Hour
  • SmarThinking Online Tutoring provided by Learning Resource Center
