Message
from The Vice President of the Division
of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
Dear
Colleagues:
The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management (SAEM) at Lincoln University operates under the tenet that
all college students should be fully and actively engaged in their
higher education experience. With
this underlying belief, Division personnel provide an array of services,
programs and assistances that provide students with a smooth transition
into college life and provide them with leadership and learning opportunities
that will allow them to fulfill their lifelong dreams. The staff
in SAEM are all fully trained and competent professionals who take seriously
their role in helping to “totally develop” students, such that
when they graduate from Lincoln they are good, solid, concerned citizens
who care about and understand the world around them and who seek to make
our world a better place for all of us to reside.
As a team, SAEM provides co-curricular activities
that support the academic mission of the University and seek to provide
activities that encourage leadership development and community service
from our students. Toward
this end, we provide academic support services via the Act 101/T.I.M.E.
Program and Learning Resources Center, pre-college programs via the Upward
Bound Program, community service opportunities via the Office of Financial
Aid/Student Employment, and a First-Year Experience Program via the Office
of Student Life and Development. With each passing year, we first
look at how we can improve the academic environment on campus for our students. For
this year, we have added the Office of Retention and Student Services to
further track and provide valuable assistance and information to our students
who are not performing as well as they can, academically or socially.
Because students spend the vast majority of
their time on campus outside the classroom and in an area which SAEM
has responsibility, it is essential that we provide students with a myriad
of services and activities that are constructive, productive and contributes
to their overall well-being and satisfaction with campus life. SAEM
contains the following departments and offices that all work cooperatively
together to provide effective programs and efficient services to our
student body, faculty, parents and staff: Act
101/T.I.M.E. Program & Learning Resource Center, Admissions (undergraduate
and graduate), Intercollegiate Athletics, Chaplain/Religious Activities,
Dean of Students and Campus Life (judicial affairs, food services and bookstore
liaison), Financial Aid, Health
Services, International Programs and Services, Public Safety and Security,
Residence Life/Student Housing, Retention and Student Services, Student
Government Association, Student Life & Development (First-Year Experience,
Orientation/Transition Programs, Student Activities and organizations,
Recreation and Intramural Sports), Upward Bound, Office of Minority Male
Health and the Women’s Center.
SAEM is the 24/7 Division of the University. We enjoy our work and
the satisfaction it brings to students’ lives.
The purpose of this publication is to provide
you with information regarding programs and services within SAEM that
compliments the University’s
vision, mission and goals. I truly hope that this guide will give
you a better understanding of the Division of SAEM and will provide you
with factual information that you can relay to students and colleagues.
Sincerely,
William
