New
Student Transition Week is your first opportunity to come to
know our own Lincoln University in a more intimate manner. It
is during this time you will encounter the affection of our
committed faculty, administration and student leaders. You will
be given the vast historical richness of your new institution
of higher learning, and you will be embraced by university traditions,
and encounter the Lincoln experience.
You have already taken your first steps towards this great legacy,
and the Office of Student Life & Development would like to inform
you of how you can be better prepared for your transition week.
Upon arriving to campus each student should come with the following
items:
• Business Attire- Students are required to wear business attire
to the Presidents Reception Dinner held during this week. You
will be given the opportunity to mix and mingle with our University
President as well as our Vice-Presidents, and various other
university officials.
• After Five Attire- Your most beautiful gown or your most handsome
suit is necessary for the Freshman Ball. Thought you would never
get to wear your prom attire again, well you were wrong.
• White Dresses and Black Suits- For the Rites of Passage Ceremony
all women must wear white dresses and the males must wear a
black suit and tie with a white shirt. This event is a very
prestigious and memorable one, and your attire should reflect
that.
• Orange & Blue Attire – During this week of transition we invite
some of our distinguished Lincoln alumni to come and share their
wealth of knowledge about the Lincoln experience, Lincoln pride,
and Lincoln legacy. All alumni, administration and students
are asked to dress in orange and blue to show our Lincoln love.
• Swim Wear- Throughout the academic year a number of organizations
will host pool parties, but this one is specifically for your
class.
We would like to also request that the following be sent to
the address listed below:
• Seventy-five dollars ($75.00) should be sent for your class
shirt, several class trips, which are apart of the week, and
your class dues, which will be used by your elected officers
to provide additional activities throughout your tenure here
at the university. The remittances of these funds are not optional.
No personal checks please, and all money orders should have
your name, address and social security number clearly written
on them, and be made payable to Lincoln University.
The Office of Student Life and Development consists of several
components: student activities, recreation and intramural sports,
coordination and management of student organizations including
Pan-Hellenic/Social Fellowship, coordination and implementation
of the First Year Experience, and student leadership development,
which includes Student Activities Assistants, Student Leader
Ambassadors and Mr. and Ms. Lincoln University. Through these
particular areas, the office has sought to provide the university
community with diversified activities that students might engage
in to promote camaraderie amongst themselves as well as support
the academic thrust of the university, while encouraging social,
cultural and personal development.
