The Lincoln University Department of Public
Safety is a professional campus Public Safety Deparrment whose
purpose is to provide for the safety of the members of the University
community and the security of all property on campus. Its mission
is to ensure a safe, problem—free learning environment for
students and staff Public Safety is responsible for safety, security,
fire safety, traffic and parking on campus. Officers enforce both
University policies and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania criminal
statutes. Police powers were issued from the Chester County Court
of Common Pleas under Pennsylvania Statutes, Title 22, Section
501. |

The Department of Public Safety consists of
a Director/Chief of Police, two (2) Assistant Directors/Captains,
four (4) Sergeants and sixteen (16) Police Officers. Officers
are trained and certified to carry weapons under the guidelines
established by the Pennsylvania Lethal Weapons Training Commission.
In addition, in order to be hired by the Lincoln University Public
Safety Department, officers must have completed the 758-hour Police
Academy mandated by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers
Education and Training Commission. Officers must also attend annual
re-certification courses designated by the Commission. |
