Minutes of the last meeting: approved
II.
Urban Center Program
Deliberations
centered on ways to increase the population of qualified students
in our graduate program. Problems such as admission process,
availability of teachers, and program coordination were discussed.
The Dean appealed to the chairs of departments to take a more
active part in the Urban Center programs, as well as make suggestions
on improving the quality of the programs.
III.
Visit to West Chester University
The
Dean reminded faculty about the scheduled visit of December
4 and asked for volunteers to help escort the students to West
Chester University.
IV.
Web Page
The
Dean pleaded with chairs and faculty to ensure that all relevant
information is provided to make the department web pages functional.
V.
Core Curriculum for Pre-Engineering Program
The
Dean told faculty of the need to drastically reduce the core
curriculum to enable our programs in engineering to be competitive.
Our students cannot complete the requirements in three years
before their transfer to other schools and many of them have
ended up staying another three years in their new schools.
There was also a need to expand the program to include pre-engineering
programs for Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Science students.
The Dean asked faculty to send their input to him.
VI.
Honor Courses
The
Dean asked faculty to think about ways to make the Honors Program
curriculum driven, as required by the President. Any suggestions
will be welcome.
VII.
Math Lab Coordinator
The
Dean told faculty that the position of Math Lab Coordinator
was still unfilled. He pleaded with faculty to publicize
this vacancy to anyone with the appropriate qualification.
Closing:
Meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
