Welcome
Dr. Chikwem welcomed all faculty to the new school year. He
commended faculty for the excellent job they have been doing,
especially in graduating top students. He informed the faculty
that in the last May commencement the School held its ground
with regard to the number of summa cum laude and cum laude graduates.
He stressed that in spite of our successes, there is still a
lot of work to be done. However, he noted that our faculty are
equal to the task.

informed faculty that a poster session was being planned and

Environmental issues is a central theme being adopted for this
effort. $10,000 has been made available for this and a detailed

accepted and departments were requested to nominate members
to the Editorial Board. Proposal for the Honors Program: Dr.
Chikwem also presented a proposal for the honors program. There
was a lot of discussion on the issue. However, it was agreed
that the proposal was just a guide as to our stand when the
issue of the honors program came up for faculty discussion.
Other
