II. Call
to Order and Welcome - Dean Chikwem called the meeting to
order at 4:10 p.m. and welcomed all faculty and student representatives.
He intimated that the meeting would be short because of the
few items on the agenda.
III.
Minutes of Last Meeting - The minutes of the February meeting
were reviewed and approved with minor corrections. The corrections
were as follows: a) Professor Tsai's complaint was about the
pot holes in the Wright Hall parking lot. b) Dr. Shabazz informed
the meeting of an existing Honors Advisory Committee. c) Dr.
Shabazz's lecture was on the Number Zero, its Origin and Its
Use.
IV. Writing
Assessment Plan - The plan submitted by the School to the
Writing Assessment Committee was reviewed. Faculty asked about
date of implementation. The Dean replied that it was up to the
faculty to decide.
V. Honors
Convocation - Dean Chikwem reminded faculty about the scheduled
Honors Convocation and kick off of the sesquicentennial celebration.
He requested faculty to be present in their academic robes to
honor the students and celebrate Lincoln's remarkable history.
Classes will be cancelled from 11:00 A.M. on April 10th for
the occasion.
VI. Others
- Northeast Alliance - Dean Chikwem informed faculty that there
was a monetary award from the Alliance to Lincoln. The money
could be used for GRE/MCAT preparation, poster presentation
in the fall and travel to Alliance schools. · Lincoln's web
site has the course schedule for the fall semester. All faculty
should review the schedule and make corrections to the Registrar.
