IV. Curriculum Driven Honor's Program

The submission made by Dr. Babatunde, Director of the Honor's program was discussed by the Dean, Dr. Chikwem. Some questions were asked on the following:

· How many electives per department will be acceptable.
· Will the diploma state the title of the Research Project done by honor's students or just the transcripts?
· Will departments provide the criteria for honors courses.
· How many honors courses will be taken by students in the department before graduation. Dean Chikwem informed faculty that in order to answer all the questions the school needs to nominate two representatives to an Ad-Hoc committee to discuss the outstanding issues. Dr. Treisner reminded faculty that there was an existing Honors Advisory Committee, therefore another Ad-Hoc committee was unnecessary. The Dean promised to bring this information to the attention of the Dean's Council.

V. Writing Assessment Plan

The Dean briefed faculty on the discussion held with Dr. Maazaoui, Chair of the Writing Assessment Committee. Faculty reminded the Dean that the School had no representative in the committee. Also, the role of the English department and the evaluation of ENG 102 and 103 were discussed. The Dean promised to email faculty a draft of the suggestions for a writing assessment plan for their input.

VI. Other:
· Faculty was asked to encourage students to apply for summer internships.
· Dr. Shabazz is speaking on the 26th of February on the Importance of zero at Dickey Hall Room 240.
