I. Attendance

II. Call to Order and Welcome

Meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. Dr. Chikwem welcomed all to the meeting and wished that the new year will bring better prospects and satisfaction to all. He congratulated all for the nice job done last semester.

III. Minutes of Last Meeting Approved without correction.

IV. MASTAP Program Submissions

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science presented their submission for the graduate MED program as stipulated in the MASAP proposal. After extensive deliberations, it was agreed that the submission should be approved but that the department should resolve if additional courses would be needed to strengthen the submission. The corrected version will be sent to the Dean for approval by the Education Policies Committee. This understanding was unanimously approved.

V. Environmental Science Program

Drs. Bhat and Royer presented their proposals for a degree program in Environmental Science with tracks in Chemistry and Biology. It was approved with the suggestion that Calculus should be included along with statistics. Dr. Royer will submit a final version to the Deans Office.

VI. SC 2002

Dr. Treisner reported on the outcome of the conference and Mr. Myrick made a presentation on some of the applications.

VII. Student Evaluation Surveys

Dr. Chikwem distributed the surveys and indicated that many instructors did not permit students to evaluate their courses. It was also observed that many of the courses involved were laboratory courses.
