STAR Program

Student Training in Academics and Research
Fox Chase Cancer Center and Lincoln University

Introducing the STAR program! STAR is a newly funded summer internship program for Lincoln University students to take part in groundbreaking and exciting cancer research at Fox Chase Cancer Center. The STAR program uses research in prostate cancer (a leading cause of death from cancer in men in the United States) as a model to learn about the spectrum of cancer research, including cancer diagnosis and treatment, cancer genetics, cancer risk assessment, basic molecular genetics research, behavioral research, cancer outcomes research, and health disparities research. Students accepted to the STAR program will have the following unique opportunities:
• Engage in innovative, groundbreaking research at a nationally recognized cancer center

• Learn about a wide variety of aspects of cancer research and the treatment of patients with cancer

• Observe cancer surgeries, radiation treatment, chemotherapy, and cancer screening from experts in the field

• Take part in interactive seminars focused on all aspects of cancer research and cancer treatment

• Have a dedicated mentorship team comprised of faculty from Fox Chase Cancer Center and Lincoln University to guide students for applications to graduate school, medical school, or careers in the sciences.
Students interested in applying to the STAR program should contact Dr Anna Hull at Lincoln University in the Nelson Center, room 221, ahull@lincoln.edu, (484) 365-7510.
