ATTENDEES: President Ivory V. Nelson, Interim Vice President

Michael B. Hill, Vice President Howard E.
Merlin,
Vice President Grant D. Venerable and Ms. Diane
M. Brown. Deans John
Chikwem, Judith A.W. Thomas and Gladys J. Willis, and Dr. Harold Aubrey
were
present for a portion of the meeting.
MINUTES
Cabinet minutes of October 27,
2009, were approved.
PRESIDENT
President Nelson discussed the
Project “Advance to the Top” with those present. A
committee structure following the pattern
of an “Accreditation Self-Study” has been implemented with persons from
various
units of the campus to accomplish the goals and objectives established
by the
Board of Trustees at its September 2009 meeting. “The
Co-chairs of the Committee will have the
responsibility of making sure that the efforts of the project are
defined,
coordinated, and implemented.” A
memorandum concerning this will be distributed campus wide.
DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS
New recruiting and marketing brochures - Vice
President Hill
indicated that the recruiting and marketing brochures are in the final
stage of
review before going to print. The
brochures will be available in the very near future.
Honors Program – The draft program for the upcoming
Honors
Convocation was distributed for review.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
Vice President Merlin commented
briefly on the interviews conducted for the RFI for the proposed new
student
residence hall. The RFP will be issued
Thursday, November 5, 2009.
