President’s Cabinet Meeting
October 31, 2006
Attendees: President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Vice President Michael B. Hill, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Ms. Thelma Ross for Vice President William B. Bynum, and Ms. Diane M. Brown.
Draft Cabinet minutes of October 18, 2006 were approved.
Vice President Venerable provided a review of the recent PDE visit regarding the PRAXIS exam. He also indicated that his area has begun work on its update of the Strategic Plan.
Lincoln University will continue its participation in AMP as a member institution, but will not seek candidacy for the role of Lead Institution.
Vice President Merlin reported that his meeting with the various campus union representatives regarding the University’s health care benefits revealed that there is a general overall satisfaction with the University’s offerings. There is some concern about the rising cost of health care benefits, but also an understanding of what is driving this increase.
Ms. Thelma Ross will provide the business office with appropriate SEOG dollar amounts for budgeting/financial planning purposes as we move forward.
Homecoming weekend went very well with only a few reports of minor student altercations. Chief Larry Woods will be asked to look into the parking situation along University Road during major University events such as this.
There being no further business, President Nelson adjourned the meeting at 11:00 a.m.
