President's Cabinet Meeting
October 20, 2003

Attendees:  President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Michael B. Hill, Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Dean Jerryl Briggs and Ms. Diane M. Brown

The Cabinet approved the minutes of the October 13, 2003 meeting.

Commonwealth 2004-2005 Budget Request
Lincoln University's 2004-2005 Budget Request is due to the Bureau of Budget and Fiscal Management, Division of Budget in Harrisburg on or before Wednesday, November 12, 2003.

University Personnel Position Control
The office of Human Resources has developed "Position Control" forms, which list all positions, vacant or filled, at Lincoln University.  Each position will be assigned a number in order to facilitate better control of the University's salary budget.  The Vice Presidents were asked to review the Position Control sheets for their respective divisions and report any discrepancies to Human Resources.

NAFEO Internships Available
Applications are now being accepted for the NAFEO summer 2004 internship program at www.nafeo.org\Internshipprogram.  Applications are also now being accepted for positions at all federal agencies for spring, summer and fall, 2004.  Notices regarding the internship opportunities will be posted around campus.

Development & External Relations
Philadelphia Gala
The following Progress Report (as of 10/20/03) was given regarding ticket sales for the Philadelphia Gala:
              Sponsor tickets          470              $237,500
              Individual tickets          66              $  16,375
              Contributions                                 $    6,750

                   TOTAL                                    $260,625

All University Convocation
It was noted that Ms. Susan L. Taylor, speaker at the October 15th All University Convocation held in the gymnasium, gave an inspiring and motivating speech that was well received by all those in attendance at the Convocation.  The Lincoln students in attendance and the Cabinet gave her high praises for a job well done.

Academic Affairs
Lincoln University's professional educator programs are scheduled to undergo a Major Program Approval Review during the 2004-05 School Year.  The review team will review the programs on the basis of the General Standards and Specific Program Guidelines for State Approval of Professional Educator Programs.  Two faculty members from the Education Department will attend an Institutional Orientation offered by the Bureau of Teacher Certification and Preparation in February 2004.  The orientation is intended to make institutions aware of the Department's expectations and address any concerns about the process.  The date for Lincoln's review has not yet been established.

Student Affairs & Enrollment Management
Approximately 50 students were given notices to vacate due to their inability to meet the established level of financial clearance.

Homecoming activities started Sunday evening, October 19th, and will continue through Sunday, October 26th.

The Cabinet meeting was adjourned at 11:00 AM.
