Minutes of October 9, 2007 Cabinet meeting were approved.
Physical Plant
International Cultural
Center – The Pre-bid
meeting for
the ICC was held on October 10, 2007 at Lincoln University. The pre-bid was not well attended and it was
noted that the architect of record was not at the meeting.
A 6 page bulletin on the project has already been
issued with more to follow after the pre-mid meeting.
Student Union –
The new schedule indicates a late January completion date.
3020 Market
Street
– Work is continuing as scheduled. Lincoln University is making plans to be
moved
from the first floor to its permanent space by December 15, 2007, as
stipulated
by the contractor.
Student Aid Study
Lincoln University has been
earmarked to participate in the 2008 National Postsecondary Student Aid
Study
(NPSAS:08). The purpose of the study is
to gather information from students and institutions on how students
finance
their education beyond high school.
Academic Affairs
Dean Chikwem provided
statistics relating to the passing rate of students enrolled in the
Math
remedial courses and will engage the faculty in further discussion
surrounding
this matter. He raised the question of
whether the remedial courses are fulfilling their purpose at Lincoln University.
Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management
Enrollment - A
total of 17 students will be administratively withdrawn from classes
due to their
inability to achieve financial clearance.
Twenty of Lincoln University’s male students are currently
serving as
mentors to 20 South Brandywine males. The mentoring program, which is sponsored by
the Minority Male Health Program at Lincoln,
has been very successful.
There being no further business, President Nelson
adjourned the meeting at 11:15 a.m.
