ATTENDEES: President Ivory V. Nelson, Executive Vice President Michael B. Hill, Provost and Senior Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Lloyd Asparagus for Vice President Howard E. Cabinet meeting minutes of September 28, 2010 were approved.

PRESIDENT

MSCHE Small Team Visit and Follow Up – Cabinet discussed the September 24 Small Team Visit and possible strategies for moving forward in the area of assessment of student learning in order to fulfill requirements of MSCHE Standard 14. The current plan has established December 1 as the date by which the University must make significant progress toward accomplishing MSA requirements. Provost Venerable will lead a discussion on Standard 14 at the October 5 Faculty Meeting. Material regarding Standard 14, to be distributed at the Faculty Meeting, was also discussed.

Lincoln University Enrollment data – A report on fall 2010 Enrollment by majors was distributed and discussed. It was noted that the major codes must be reassigned in the registrar’s office in order to attain more accurate reporting. EVP Hill will discuss this matter with the registrar to make certain the reassignment of codes for the majors is accomplished as soon as possible.

FY 2010 Strengthening HBCUs Grant- Lincoln University is among 96 HBCUs sharing $84.775 million in grant award funds from the U.S. Department of Education to strengthen their facilities and academic programs. Lincoln’s award amount totals $861,996.00 for the first year (10/01/2010 – 09/30/2011) of the five-year grant period.

Capital Projects – President Nelson provided the following table listing 2010-11 Commonwealth funded capital projects as well as those projects included in Lincoln University’s Capital Budget Authorization Request recently submitted to the Commonwealth.

FISCAL AFFAIRS

Policies – The final Student Financial Clearance letter was distributed. Students who have not achieved financial clearance will be permitted to complete the 2010 fall semester and will receive credit for courses completed. However, they will not be permitted to return for the spring 2011 semester unless financial clearance has been achieved.
