Draft Cabinet minutes of September 26, 2006 were approved.
The Spellings Report
The Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU) has scheduled
a panel discussion during its Annual Meeting in Hershey, PA, October 8-9,
2006 on the issues raised in the draft report of the Commission appointed
by Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, A Test of Leadership: Charting
the Future of U.S. Higher Education. President Nelson will represent
the Commonwealth universities on the panel.
Collective Bargaining
Cabinet discussed the upcoming union negotiations to be entered into with
the various campus constituencies.
Academic Affairs
Dean Thomas briefed the Cabinet regarding the PDE meeting scheduled for October
23, 2006 and the First Year Experience (FYE) classes.
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
The RFP for marching band uniforms was issued and proposals are due today.
Implementation of the “One Card” system is moving forward, as is installation
of the security cameras.
Vice President Bynum reported that the current enrollment numbers will not
change significantly as most of our students have been able to make arrangements
to satisfy their financial obligations to the University.
