MINUTES
Cabinet minutes of September 23,
2008 were approved.
PRESIDENT
Economic Outlook – President Nelson discussed the
effect of the
failed bailout bill on Lincoln
University. Cabinet was mandated to carefully review
spending during this critical time.
Lincoln University Budget Reserve - President Nelson
indicated that the necessary budget rescission amounts identified in
each
division will be deducted from the specified budgets and placed in
contingency. Vice President Merlin
presented his worksheet on amounts dedicated to reserve by those
reporting to
date. The contingency may be accessed
with prior approval from the President for essential expenses not able
to be
met by the remaining available funds.
Hiring Freeze – A “Request for Hiring Freeze Waiver”
must accompany
any requests for hire/replacement of personnel.
The form must be completed and forwarded to the President for
review/approval prior to submission to the office of Human Resources.
Campus signage - The proposed signage location plan for
the campus
was distributed. The new signage will
provide directional information to campus facilities and parking areas. The new design restricts parking areas and
vehicular traffic to the perimeter of the campus. The
new signage will be installed in phases;
the first phase will include identification of parking areas.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Vice President Venerable reported
on proceedings at the College Board HBCU conference held in Atlanta, GA
the past weekend. One topic of interest
was first generation statistics.
PAWS workshops will be taking
place in the next two weeks.
DEVELOPMENT & EXTERNAL RELATIONS
The first edition of Lincoln
University’s
Academic Highlights has
been placed on the web site and will be distributed widely in print
form. Copies will be mailed to those on
the
development mailing list as well as to individuals identified by the
division
of academic affairs.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
Vice President Merlin presented
the FY09 Enrollment numbers (reported below in SAEM).
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
HBCU Queens Pageant – Congratulations to Miss Lincoln University,
Brooke
Womack, who placed in the top 5 in the National Black Colleges Alumni
Hall of
Fame’s Competition of Black College Queens pageant held September 28,
2008.
