PRESIDENT
2011 HBCU Conference - President Nelson briefed the attendees on the White
House Initiative 2011 HBCU Conference that he attended September 19th
in Washington, DC. Lincoln University
was named by John Wilson as one of the HBCUs on the rise and making positive
advancements.
2012-13
Budget Request - Lincoln
University’s 2012-2013 Budget Request is due at the Pennsylvania Department of
Education on Friday, September 23rd.
The Department of Education has requested that the following be
addressed in the University’s budget request:
- Efforts to Address Increase in Tuition and Fees
- Overview of Purpose and Utilization for Each
Request
- Enhancing/Upgrading Instruction or Administrative
Technology
- Increasing Faculty Classroom Time (Student Contact
Hours) Relative to Undergraduate Education
- Implementation of Fiscal Accountability and
Administrative
Cost Efficiencies
New Residence Hall - Vice President Merlin was asked to continue working
on a financial plan for construction of a new residence hall.

EVP
Hill informed the group that priority plans have been developed for both the
Visual Arts and Business and Entrepreneurial Centers of Excellence. The Centers’ faculty are working on plans for
uniformity of delivery, intervention for students exhibiting difficulty with
the course work, and achievement measures.

Merlin presented the FY12 Enrollment data as of September 16, 2011. A larger number of students entering in
spring 2012 than originally anticipated is needed to help overcome the
shortfall in income calculated on enrollment.
