PRESIDENT
Future direction - President
Nelson and the members of the Cabinet discussed the Board of Trustees’
desires and
expectations for the future direction of Lincoln University. These include higher retention and graduation
rates and ranking in the top 10 of the nation’s HBCUs.
Mr. Briggs noted that Lincoln University’s
current retention rate of 78% (as of September 16) is up 10% over last
year.
2010-11 Budget Request
– 2010-11 Budget requests are due at the PA Department of Education by
November
12, 2009. The Department is also
requesting the completion of a Supplementary Information Survey on
student
enrollments; retention and graduation rates, student financial aid and
tuition
related date; and instructional and non-instructional salary and wage
data at
that time.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Dean Chikwem indicated that there
are some safety/traffic issues at the new science building during the
periods
when students are dismissed from classes.
Mr. Briggs was asked to look into possible solutions for
allowing the
students and vehicular traffic to safely and efficiently coexist during
these
times when the student foot traffic is heaviest.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
The Pre-employment Drug Screening requirement was
approved by
the members of
Cabinet.
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
The admissions staff has begun
the recruitment process for the next class of students.
Mr. Briggs also noted that the Sophomore
Experience Week was very successful.
