Draft Cabinet minutes of August 29, 2006 were approved.
Security Surveillance Needs
President Nelson stressed the importance of the installation of security
surveillance cameras in various locations on campus for the safety of our
students. The Chief of Campus Security is to take the lead in coordinating
the purchase and installation of the cameras. The University’s Title
III budget is to be looked at as a possible source for funding this project.
Emergency Preparedness
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina last year and 9/11 five years ago, College
Misericordia has made available to all colleges and universities in the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, the Ready Campus program. The Program is intended
to assist colleges and universities in becoming prepared for a natural or
human-made disaster. The manual for Ready Campus, developed by the
internationally renowned, emergency preparedness firm of James Lee Witt Associates
and Misericordia, and underwritten by the Department of Homeland Security,
can be downloaded in Adobe PDF format at www.readycampus.org.
Fiscal Affairs
Due to the enhanced E911 telephone system, the University must designate
street names for all campus locations. The Vice presidents were asked
to get back to President Nelson within the next week with their suggestions
as to possible street designations.
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
Vice President Bynum provided enrollment statistics as of September 5, 2006.
Final enrollment figures will be determined after September 30, 2006, which
is the University’s extended deadline for student financial clearance.
