MINUTES
The
August 23, 2011, Cabinet minutes were approved as presented.
PRESIDENT
Monitoring Report
President Nelson reiterated
his request for updates on the progress of each department regarding additional
information needed from them in order to complete the Monitoring Report. The information is required by September 12th. This topic will be included on the September
6, 2011 Faculty Meeting agenda.
2011-12 Operating Budget
President Nelson provided an
overview of actions taken in order to reach a balanced 2011-2012 Operating
Budget. He explained that budget cuts
have been made only to “unrestricted” budget lines. None of the “restricted” (i.e. grants)
budgets have been reduced.
2012-2013 Commonwealth
Budget Request
Lincoln University’s
Operating Budget Request for Fiscal Year 2012-2013 is due in Harrisburg at the
Department of Education by September 23, 2011.
In addition to the usual information provided, the Department of
Education has requested that the President address specific questions in the
President’s Statement that accompanies the budget request. Areas of interest include the institutions
efforts to limit increases in tuition and fees, recruitment, retention and
graduation of minority students, as well as recruitment and retention of
minority faculty, and efforts and results achieved in specific areas of
teaching and learning in the classroom.
