The
August 16, 2011, Cabinet minutes were approved as presented.
PRESIDENT
2011 Faculty Conference
President Nelson provided a
synopsis of the Faculty Conference held August 18-19, 2011, that prompted a
directive regarding four specific assessment concerns with definite timetables
for completion. The four areas of
concern are (1) all changes to academic assessment reports must be submitted by
September 12, 2011; (2) all updates to the University’s assessment web site and
departmental web pages must be completed by November 1, 2011; (3) the process
of updating the University’s catalog by January 1, 2012; and (4) University facts
and data requirements.
2011-12 Operating Budget
President Nelson, Executive
Vice President Hill, and Vice President Howard Merlin will meet at the
conclusion of Cabinet to discuss final preparations of the 2011-12 operating
budget.
President Nelson stressed the
need to closely monitor University spending now and throughout the fiscal year.
SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES & BEHAVIORAL STUDIES
Dean Thomas will explore
additional testing options to measure freshman reading levels (i.e., Applegate
v. Accuplacer, Compass, etc.)
ADJOURNMENT
There
being no further business, President
Nelson adjourned the meeting at 11:30 a.m.
