MINUTES
The
August 10, 2010, Cabinet minutes were approved.
PRESIDENT
- 2010-11
Operating and Capital Budget. The Board of Trustees approved the
2010-11 Operating and Capital Budget on August 16, 2010. President Nelson stressed the importance
in our efforts to improve the University’s present and future fiscal
condition.
- Summer
Bridge Program. Assessment of the Summer Bridge Program
was discussed in detail.
- Department
of Athletics. Recently, the NCAA DII Presidents
Council developed a list of strategic areas related to intercollegiate
athletics. President Nelson and
Executive Vice President Hill will provide oversight of the department.
- Lower
Oxford East Poll to University Campus. Chester County
commissioners have settled a federal lawsuit regarding the place for
voting in the Lower Oxford East precinct. Voters will now report to the gymnasium.
- Credit
Rating and Financial-Responsibility Test. President Nelson provided
a copy of and discussed, “Negative Credit Ratings Reflect Financial Strain

- Audit
of Title III. President Nelson provided a copy of and
discussed, “Low-Income and Minority Serving Institutions: Sustained
Attention Needed to Improve Education’s Oversight of Grant Programs,”
George A. Scott, Director, Education, Workforce, and Income Security, U.S. Government Accountability Office,
May 27, 2010.

FISCAL AFFAIRS
- Proposed
600-Bed Residence Hall. The status of the complex, contract
talks, and financing were discussed.
Representatives from HBCU Capital Financing will meet with
University Administrators on September 14.
- University
Employee Health Care Benefits. Working papers were distributed to
members of Cabinet on the proposed health care contract for University
employees.
PROVOST AND SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT FOR
ACADEMIC AND STUDENT AFFAIRS
- MSCHE. Members
of Cabinet discussed the language of assessment, examples of assessment
program modeling, and preparation for the small team visit on September
24.
- September Faculty Meeting. The agenda for the September Faculty
meeting was discussed.
