MINUTES
No action taken on Cabinet Minutes
dated July 29, 2008.
PHYSICAL PLANT
·
Manuel
Rivero Hall. The Freshman Dinner
will have to be relocated to the dining hall due to delays with the gym
floor.
·
International
Cultural Center. Mr. Thompson and
President Nelson provided a briefing on existing groundwater and
drainage at
the ICC site.
·
Demolition
Projects. Bldgs. 9, 13, 21, 39 and 114 scheduled for immediate
demolition
will be delayed 2-3 weeks.
·
Transfer
of Electrical Power. The Physical Plant and Building 116 are
currently
without power due to the electrical tie-in to the new science building.
PRESIDENT
·
Division
Organizational Charts. Dr. Nelson requested Cabinet members to
update their
organizational charts for 2008-09 and submit to the President
immediately.
·
Transition
Week. Dr. Nelson requested all
departments to begin to address student discipline,
behavior, decorum, and dress.
ACADEMIC
AFFAIRS
·
Fall
Semester 2008. Vice President Venerable provided a brief summary on
upcoming Fall 2008 events: new student orientation; faculty retreat;
new
faculty orientation and his address on the “State of Academics”
at Lincoln
University.
·
Teaching
Laboratories. Vice President Venerable will provide a handout at
the
Faculty Retreat on the University’s $14.8 million instruction
improvements.
DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL
RELATIONS
·
3rd
Annual Angel City
Classic. Vice President Hill
encouraged Lincoln University’s participation in the Third
Annual Angel
City Classic sponsored by Black Educational Events, LLC, September
2008, in Los Angeles,
California.
·
Society
of Physics Students (SPS). In July 2008, Kudzanayi Munetsi-Mugomba,
was
recognized as one of the SPS 2007-08 Leadership Awardees to receive
$2000. President Nelson requested public
announcements/press release(s) on all outstanding student, faculty and
staff achievements.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
·
All-University
Reception. President Nelson requested the Director of Human
Resources to
organize an All-University reception to introduce new staff members. Venue: Student Union
Building.
·
Safety
Committee. The proposed Safety Committee Mission Statement has been
approved.
·
Risk
Management. A copy of all safety or security-related Physical Plant
work
orders will be sent by the Department of Physical Plant to the
University’s
Risk Manager. Vice
President Merlin will develop a
report to respond to safety and security recommendations from the
University’s
insurance carrier.
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT

Transition Week.
Mr. Briggs provided a brief summary on Freshman Transition Week
beginning Sunday, August 10. Student leaders and resident advisors
arrived on
Monday, August 4. Student-athletes and band members arrive on
Wednesday, August
6.
·
Sophomore Year Experience. SAEM
has developed a concise Sophomore Year Experience program for Fall 2008.
·
