Minutes
Minutes of July 25, 2007 Cabinet meeting were approved.
Development and
External Relations
Vice President Hill distributed copies of the Security/Card
Access Summary for 3020
Market Street. Cabinet
was in agreement that the security system and card reader system should
be tied
into the base building system as well as having the ability to be
monitored on
the main campus.
A building naming ceremony will be scheduled during the fall
semester once the appropriate schedules are checked for availability.
A summary of contributions to the Student Enhancement
Program shows that this effort has attracted 264 first-time donors. The number of donors to this program totals
390 since its inception in April 2006.
Academic Affairs
Dean Chikwem reported that faculty hiring is slightly behind
due to the fact that the adoption of the budget occurred later than in
previous
years. The university will explore
putting into place a mechanism which will allow the hiring of
replacement
faculty prior to budget approval.
Ware Center and University
Hall were expected to be ready for occupancy for the start of the fall
2007
semester. Furniture, fixtures and
equipment has been delivered for both buildings and is presently being
stored
in Ware Center.
However, since the university has no control over regulations
regarding
occupancy permits, the registrar has developed two plans in the event
occupancy
certificates are not issued by the start of the semester.
Plans A and B entail either moving into the
renovated buildings or remaining in the modules until we are able to
occupy the
buildings. We are currently awaiting
occupancy
certificates for both Ware
Center and
University
Hall.
Fiscal Affairs
A briefing on the Year End close was given by Vice President
Merlin.
Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management
Vice President Bynum reported that a total of 279 new
students were registered during the three 1-day drive in sessions. They hope to add a fourth and fifth session
in the future.
At this point, Lincoln
has no more room for new freshman for the fall 2007 semester, unless
they are
commuting. All deposits received from
this point on will be for the spring semester.
