MINUTES
Cabinet
minutes of July 22, 2008, were approved as corrected.
PRESIDENT
·
Dr.
Nelson
requested Cabinet members to update their organizational charts for
2008-09 and
submit to the President no later than August 9.
·
The
University
will sponsor ten students to attend the TMCF Leadership Institute
October
24-27, 2008, in New York.
·
Dr.
Nelson
proposed the following locations for 2008-09 Board of Trustees meetings:

·
The
University
has granted use of Manuel Rivero Hall as the Lower Oxford East precinct
voting
site for the November 2008 election.

Dr.
Nelson
provided Cabinet members with copies of the University’s 2008-09
Appropriations
Act (HB 2320/2008) as well as the annual reporting requirements
detailed in HB
1067/2007.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
·
Dr.
Nelson
requested a one-page synopsis on new initiatives and how the University
is
revamping the Academic Support Program.
DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS
·
The
University’s
new Assistant Director of Communications, Ms. Ashley Gabb ’08, will be
responsible
for internal and external communications of University-wide academic
successes
on a routine basis.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
·
Mr.
Carol
provided an update on IT initiatives.
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND
ENROLLMENT
MANAGEMENT
·
Vice
President Bynum announced new SAEM positions/staff members for FY09:
Dr. J. Gibson, Director of Student Life and Development; Dr. Fullmer,
Interim
Director of the Learning Resource Center/ACT 101; Ms. R. Manson,
Director of
the Women’s Center; and Mr. J. Lowney, Director of Residence Life.
