Physical Plant Briefing
Mr. Thompson provided an update on capital projects and work
underway.
President Nelson noted the outstanding job that the
purchasing agents have been able to do in negotiating contracts and
vendors to
secure the new furniture, fixtures and equipment for the newly
renovated
buildings.
With the switch to the new OneCard system, all students and
employees will be required to get new university photo IDs. A memo will be issued to the campus
community.
Minutes
Minutes of July 10, 2007 Cabinet meeting were approved.
NCAA Division II
Membership
The NCAA Division II Membership Committee has accepted Lincoln University’s written application
for
exploratory membership. The exploratory
period will officially begin on September 1, 2007 and will be in effect
for a
two-year period.
Lincoln University Smoking Policy
Cabinet approved the recommendation of the university’s
Safety Committee to include university vehicles in its Smoking Policy.
2008 and 2009 Holiday
Schedule
The proposed 2008 and 2009 Holiday Schedules submitted by
the office of Human Resources were approved.
Worker’s Compensation
Policy
The Worker’s Compensation Policy was approved for immediate
distribution to all employees with the suggested revision to the cover
Memo.
Capital Project
Design Professionals sought
The Department of General Services (DGS) has advertised for
design professionals for new Lincoln University
capital
projects: Landscape General Campus/Construct Tennis Courts, Softball
Field-Soccer Field and Bleachers; and Construction of a New
Learning/Counseling/Academic Student Center.

Street Project Update 7/20/07
The following project update was submitted by Bancroft Construction
company:
Schedule - The demolition
phase is ongoing. Demolition of the 2nd
floor has
been completed. Selective demolition on
the terracotta exterior walls has started (where the window openings
will be
punched in). Selective demolition is occurring on the other floors.
Lincoln
3rd and 4th
floor fit out – The GMP (cost of
construction) has been reviewed and approved. Construction should start
in
early August.
Building Security/Access Cards
– A preliminary plan has been
put together and must be reviewed in relation to the budget.
Penn Shaft – A mechanical
chase is needed to be located
through the 4th floor space for UPenn on the 2nd
floor. This shaft will be located tight to the freight elevator
on the
east side of the shaft. It will impact one classroom (the room
will lose
around 4‘ on the back wall).
Gas Main/Rooftop Generator –
A temporary generator has been
installed and the gas main has been removed.
Academic Affairs
A copy of the final Middle States Review Report will be
available for President Nelson’s review prior to the faculty retreat.
Development and
External Relations
Vice President provided an update on the Lincoln University
Contributions Analysis. The report showed
that total contributions were up from $1,938,493 for
FY06 to $3,359,349 for FY07. Fiscal
year ’07 also set a record for the
highest number of alumni contributors (1040) in the university’s
history.
Fiscal Affairs
Vice President Merlin provided a briefing on investments and
payroll issues.
Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management
Vice President Bynum reported that the 1-day drive in
sessions for new students are going well; football
coach interviews will be taking place
Wednesday and Thursday with President Nelson interviewing the top two
candidates as identified by the search committee; and he expects
closure on the
Security Union CBA by the end of August.
